Practitioner texts are the reference works lawyers work from: the titles of Sweet & Maxwell's Common Law Library, multi-volume forms and precedents such as Atkin's Court Forms and the Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents, and specialist works on single areas of law.
Titles our own shop, Law Book Sellers, has listed include Woodfall's Landlord and Tenant, Kemp and Kemp's The Quantum of Damages, MacGillivray on Insurance and Stroud's Judicial Dictionary.
With practitioner texts, tell us the edition of each title as well as its name. The edition is printed on the spine and on the title page.
What to send us for a valuation
- The title and edition of each text, from the spines.
- For multi-volume works, which volumes are there and whether the binders and supplements are with them.
- What else is on the same shelves, since we buy practitioner texts as part of a collection.
- The town or postcode where the books are.
Photos taken straight on to the shelves, in good light, are the quickest way for us to read the spines. We pack the books ourselves and pay the transport, so there is nothing to box up before we arrive.
